Crochet baby sweater 0- 9 months. crochet pattern

Crochet Baby sweater 0- 9 months.

Baby sweaters

finished baby sweater
finished baby sweater

are a must for newborn babies because they have very delicate skin. When you make baby sweaters you have to select a soft and light yarn that protect the warmth also. Some yarns may cause inhaling problems for the baby due to the fine dust they have. Some synthetic yarns may cause rashes on the skin. So be very careful when you select the yarns for crocheting for baby suits.

The colour selection is also very important. Soft light colours are good for babies. Shades of blue for baby boys and shades of pink for baby girls are nicely matching. But you can think of any other colours except dull colours. For this sweater I have selected, light and dark of the same colour, that is light purple and dark purple. Further, you can try white and dark colours also like blue and white, pink and white etc.

I have used 2mm yarn and a 4mm hook. Started with dark purple colour.

Make 60 chains. Measure the length of it and it should be equal to the length of the neckline.

Row 1: Make 3 ch, then 1 dc to the 4th chain. Then 1dc to each of the other 57 chains. When come to the last two chains, make 1 ch and skip one ch and make 1 dc to the last chain. Turn.

Row 2: sl.st.to the st. below. 2 ch, 2 dcs to the ch 1 space. 2dcs into the dc below. 3dcs to the next 3dcs below. 2dcs into the next dc below. *3dc, 2dc to the same st.*Repeat. Turn

Row 3:  sl.st. to the st. below. 2ch, 2dc, 2dc into the next st. Then 4dc to each of 4 dcs below. Then 2dc to the stitch below.*4dc, 2dc into the same st.* Repeat. Turn

Row 4: sl.st. to the st. below. 2ch, 2dc, 2dc into the next st. Then 5dc to each of 5dcs below. Then 2dc to the same stitch below.*5 dc, 2dc into the same st.* Repeat. Turn.

Row 5: sl.st. to the st. below. 2ch, 2dc, 2dc into the next st. Then 6 dc to the each of 6 dcs below. Then 2dc to the stitch below.*6 dc, 2dc into the same st.* Repeat. Turn.

Row 6: sl.st. to the st. below. 2ch, 2dc, 2dc into the next st. Then 7 dc to the each of 7 dcs below. Then 2dc to the stitch below.*7 dc, 2dc into the same st.* Repeat. Turn.

Row 7: sl.st. to the st. below. 2ch, 2dc, 2dc into the next st. Then 8 dc to the each of 8 dcs below. Then 2dc to the stitch below.*8 dc, 2dc into the same st.* Repeat. Turn.

Now the yoke is ready. Now I have 146 dcs around.

We have to divide this number of stitches into 5 parts. That is two parts for the back, (As this is a back opening sweater, the back is with two parts) two parts of sleeves and the front part. Mark the stitches after counting the necessary amount.

Marking should be done as follows,

Count 23 stitches from back opening and mark it, then from there 30 stitches for sleeve and mark, then from there count 40 stitches and mark for the front, again 30 st. for sleeve and mark, and 23 st. for back again. Turn.

Now we can start with pattern rows.

Round 1: Change the colour, (Dark clour) join the new colour yarn to the stitch where you have finished earlier. Make 3 ch, 2dc to the next two stitches. ch1,1sc to the next, ch1 skip 2 st. and 6dc into the next st. ch1 skip 2 1sc to the next.

*Ch1, skp2, 1sc, ch1 skp 2, 6dc* Repeat from* to * until you reach the marker. (That is the beginning of the 30 chains of the sleeve.)

Now we should separate the sleeve part by joining the beginning stitch of the 30 stitches with the ending stitch of the 30 stitches. (That is to the next marker.)

To do this insert the hook to the beginning stitch of 30th st. of the sleeve part and make unfinished sc and then insert the hook to the ending st. of 30th st. and make unfinished sc and complete both unfinished scs together. Now you have separated the sleeve part.

Then ch1, skip 2 and 6dc to the next stitch. *Ch1, skp2, 1sc, ch1 skp 2, 6dc* Repeat from* to * until you reach the marker.

Then again we have to separate the sleeve. To do this insert the hook to the beginning stitch of 30th st. of the sleeve part and make unfinished sc and then insert the hook to the ending st. of 30th st. and make unfinished sc and complete both unfinished scs together. In this way, we can separate the sleeve.

Then ch1, skip 2 and 6dc to the next stitch. *Ch1, skp2, 1sc, ch1 skp 2, 6dc* Repeat from* to * After the final fan of 6dcs, (you should have 5dcs remaining) Ch1 skp2 1sc, ch1 3dc to the 3dc below. Turn,

Pattern Row 2: Make a sl.st. to the stitch below. Then 2ch, 2dcs to the 2 dcs below. Then make 3 front post double crochets to the fan below. Chain 2 and again make 3 front post double crochets to the fan below. *3fpdc, ch2, 3fpdc* Repeat to the end. Turn.

Pattern Row 3: Make a sl.st. to the stitch below. 2ch, 2dcs Ch1, 1sc in-between the fans. then, ch1, 6dc into the middle of the fan below. *Ch1, 1sc, ch1, 6dc*. Repeat from* to * until you finish the row.

Repeat pattern rows 2 and 3 alternately until you come to the necessary length. I did about 13 pattern rows.

Sleeves: Start from the underarm with light colour.

Round 1 :*ch1, 1sc, 1ch, skip 2, 6dc, 1ch, skip 2, 1sc* Continue until end. At the end make unfinished scs to the beginning ch1 and another to the sc there and complete both together. Turn

Round 2: *3ch, 3front post double crochet, 2ch, 3fpdc* Repeat. At the end sl.st. to the 3rd ch of the beginning 3 chains. Turn.

Round 3; Repeat rounds 1 and 2 until you have 9 rounds.

🍍Pineapple flower crochet pattern

Pineapple flower or motif
the repeating unit (one motif)
the repeating unit (one motif)
This motif is a very common feature in crochet. There are so many crocheted items using this motif. So many projects can be done using this lovely flower design. For example, we can make doilies, table runners, table cloths, bedspreads, tote bags, drawstring bags, scarves, tops, sweaters, and skirts with this design. So, it is worth knowing how to make this lovely flower first. Further, you can attach it to the surface of your frocks or blouses to decorate them

It is easy to follow. It only uses the following simple stitches. Chain, slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet, shell stitch. But the finished flower will have a magnificent look. You can have modifications of the main design, they also look impressive and decorative. We can learn them one by one.

Instructions to have a chain of pineapple flowers are given below. The maximum width of the finished flower by me is 4.2” (11cm).

A crochet doily

A doily
A doily

This is a very nice crochet pattern for a doily. In this sample, the diameter is 7”. I have used a yarn with a thickness of 2mm. and a hook with 1.60 mm. You can use cotton yarn in making these. It is more heat-resistant and washable. Further, it is easy to work with.

If your yarn is not thick enough you can use 2 strands of the same colour. That is, you can crochet by taking two strands from two skeins with the same type and same colour

For one doily of 7” diameter you need less than 25g of yarn.

You can make a set of these and use them on your dining table or sell in an online market. If you are going to sell these online you have to have an online store and way of accepting money. There are some online markets you can join them free. For others, you have to pay a registration fee. Even you can advertise and sell them on your Facebook page also.

Let’s learn how to do this.

Triangle shawl

                             Triangular shawl

Part of the shawl
Part of the shawl

The triangular shawls are used to cover your back, shoulders, and front. You can easily cover your upper body with this type of shawl. It can be made out of wool when you are going to use it in cold weather. For summer, you can use a very soft thin yarn to make this shawl. This will give you a grand look and you can wear it for any occasion if you did it with shiny silk yarn.

The measurements of a shawl for adult women are as follows, Base of the triangle should be 50" and two sides should be equal and the length should be 30". We are going to crochet from a corner of the triangle which is facing the base. When you crocheting along you have to measure the sides of the shawl until you reach the length of 30".Then the base will be 50".

Row 1. Make 6 ch, and make 1dc to the first ch, Turn

Row 2. Make 7dc to the previously made ch 6 space below. Turn.

Row 3. Make 5 ch and skip 3dc and make 1sc to the next dc below. Make 3ch skip 2 dc and 1sc to the next. turn.

Row 4. make 2ch and 6dc to the space of ch 3  below. Make 6 dc to the next ch 3 space below. Turn

Row 5. Make 5 ch and skip 2dc, 3 sc to the next 3 dcs., ch 4, skip 4dc, and 3sc to the next 3dc. Ch 3, sc to the 2nd ch of the beginning 2 ch.

Row 6. 2ch, 6dc, skp 1sc,1 sc to the next, skp 1sc, 6dc to the ch 4 sp. Below. Skp 1sc 6dc to the space below

Row 7. Do like row 5

Row 8. Do like row 6.

top row similar to row 5

top row similar to row 6

you have to do alternately (interchangeably) row 5 and 6 until you come to the needed length of the sides of the shawl. here I have given 30 " as the length of the side.

Crochet triangles for blankets

Crochet triangle
single triangle
Make 4 ch and sl.st. to the 1st ch. Now you have a ring of 4 chains.

Round 1: Make 6 ch, and 1dc to the ring of 4 chains. “3ch 1dc”. Repeat 4 times. After the last 3ch join to the 3rd of the beginning 6 ch.

Round 2:  Make 1sc to the same place. Make 5 ch and make 3 dc together into the ch   3 space. Then ch 5 and make 1 sc to the top of the dc bellow. “5ch, 3dc tog, 5ch, 1sc” repeat. After making last ch 5, join to the sc made at the beginning.

Round 3: Change the colour and join the yarn to the top of the 3 dc together. Then make 7 chains and make 1dc to the same place. Then 3 ch and make 1dc to the sc below. Then 3ch 1sc to the top of the 3dc together. 3ch1dc to the sc bellow. 3ch 1dc to the top of the dc 3tog. 3 ch and 1dc to the same place.

“3ch, 1dc, 3ch 1sc, 3ch 1dc, 3ch 1dc, 3ch 1dc” Repeat 2 times. You should have 3 sets of *1dc, 3ch, 1dc*at the 3 corners of the triangle.

finished 3rd round
finished 3rd round

Round 4: Join the yarn to the 5th chain of the 7 chains made at the beginning of 3rd round. Then make 2dc to the same space and 1dc to the dc bellow, then 3 dc to the ch 3 space. “1dc, 3dc, 1dc” Repeat until you come to a corner. At the corner into the ch 3 space, make 2 dc and 3 ch and 2dc. Then repeat 1dc to the dc below and 3dc to the ch 3 space, corner, 2dc,3ch 2dc. At the end join to the 3rd chain of the beginning 3 chains.

Round 5: Join a new colour yarn to the 5th chain of the 6 chains previously made at the beginning of the 4th row. Then 2dcs to the space below. Then 1dc to each of the dc below. At the corner 2dc to the space of 3ch and 3ch and 2dc again to the same space.

Repeat 1dc, to each of the dc below, 2dc, 3ch, 2dcat the corner. At the end join to the 3rd ch of the 6 chains you made at the beginning of the round. Fasten off.

finished triangle
finished triangle

Now you have finished with the triangle. Make the needed number of triangles to finish your project. You can just think after measuring the length of two joined triangles the amount you need to cover the length of your item. By measuring its width you can find the needed amount of triangles to cover the width of your item.

Then you have to join them together to make a scarf, a shawl or a blanket. In joining follow the following method. Keep one triangle over the other and see whether the holes of the corners are overlapping each other. Make sure to keep the right sides of the triangles together. Then insert the hook through the holes of both triangles and make a knot there to secure the yarn. Then make 1 single crochet. Then insert the hook through only the touching loops of both triangles. (That is back loop of the top triangle and front loop of the other triangle.) Then bring up the yarn. Now you have two loops on the hook. Pull up the yarn through both loops. Likewise, do along until you come to the corner. Then take another triangle and keep over one of the triangles you joined earlier (the wrong side should be up) and join together as earlier.

Crochet Hat pattern for 12-24 months

finished hat
finished hat

Crochet hat pattern for a 12 to 24 months Baby.

There are two parts of a hat as flat circle and height. When we crocheting a hat we should measure the head circumference, diameter of the flat circle and length of the hat height. These 3 parts are changed according to the age of an individual. There are early made charts to find these 3 measurements for different age groups. We have to get the help of such chart when we are going to make a hat. Given below is a chart for hat measurements for different age groups.

Sizes

Head circumference

Flat circle

Hat height

0-3 months

33- 36 cm

9-13cm

11.5-15.5

3-6 months

36- 40.5 cm

13-14 cm

15.5-16.5

6-12 months

40.5- 43.5 cm

14-15cm

16.5-17.5

12-24 months

43.5- 46 cm

15-16 cm

17.5-19

Toddler

46- 48 cm

16-17 cm

19.5- 20

In this pattern flat circle part is done only with double crochets.

To start the hat pattern make a magic circle.

Round 1: Make 3 chains and into the magic circle make 12 dcs. Then join with a slip stitch to the 3rd chain of the 3 chains made at the beginning. (12 stitches)

Round 2: Ch 3, then into each of the dcs below make 2 dcs.

(24 stitches)

Round 3: Ch3, dc in the first dc below, 2dc into the next dc. “1dc, 2dc” repeat to the end.  Join to the 3rd chain with a sl.st. (36 sts.)

Round 4: Ch 3, dc in the first dc below, dc in the next, 2 dc into the next. “1dc, 1dc, 2dc”

repeat to the end. Sl.st. Join (48)

Round 5: Ch 3, dc in the first dc below, dc in next, dc in next, 2 dc into the next. “1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 2dc”repeat to the end. Sl.st. Join

(60 sts.)

Row 6:  Ch 3, dc in the first dc below, dc in the next, dc in the next, dc in the next, 2 dc into the next. “1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 2dc” repeat to the end. Sl.st. Join (72sts.)

Now this is considered as the flat circle. Using the chart, according to the age of the child the diameter of this should be taken.

Now measure the diameter you need according to the age group you want. If the diameter of the flat circle is reach the length you need, start to do the pattern of the hat.

If not, for each round add one more single dc and 2dc to the next. For example,

Make the row 7 by doing, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, and then 2dc

(84 sts.)

Row 8: 1dc,1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc. 2dc. and then 2dc   (96 sts.)

 Row 9: 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc. 1dc, and then 2dc (108 sts.)

Likewise you have to get the needed diameter for your hat.

In my sample I did 8 rows.

Now lets do the pattern with shells.

Pattern row1: Chain 1 sc in the first dc below. Skip 2 sts and 5dc into the next dc below. Skip 2, 1sc to the next dc below, skp 2 and 5dc into the next.

“skp2, 1sc, skp2, 5dc” Repeat. Join with a slip stitch to the sc made at the beginning. (By this way you have made the first pattern row of shells of 5dcs.)

Pattern row 2: After joining, in to the same sc make 5 dcs. Then skp 2 and make 1sc into the middle of the shell below. Then skp 2 and make 5dc into the sc below.

“ 5dc, skp 2 ,1sc, skp 2” repeat. At the end join to the 1st dc with a slip stitch.

In the halfway of 2nd pattern row.
In the halfway of 2nd pattern row.
Pat. Row 3: Then to the same stitch 5 dc, skip 2, 1 sc to the middle of the shell. Skip 2, 5 dc to the sc below. (Simply, 1sc to the middle of the shell, 5 dc into the sc)  At the end join to the 1st dc with a slip stitch.

Repeat this until you gain the required height of the hat.

you can get a design by changing colours in the pattern rows.

At the end of 4th pattern row
At the end of 4th pattern row

Half double crochet 3 together stitch.

Half double crochet 3 together stitch.
Half double crochet 3 together stitch.

This is a very neat stitch and you can use different colours to finish every two rows. That is, you can make one single crochet row and one half double crochet 3together row using a single colour. Then change the colour and make a row of single crochet and a row of half double crochet with that colour. This will give a thin stripe in one colour. If you need wide strips in the same colour change the colour after finishing several rows, but remember to change the colour always after finishing the 2nd row.

Make a foundation chain of an even number or multiple of 2. If you want to practice the stitch make 20 chains or otherwise if you are going to make a baby blanket or a shawl measure the width you want in inches or centimetres and make a foundation chain accordingly and get the nearest even number.

Instructions: The stitches used here are single crochet (sc), double crochet and half double crochet 3 together. ( hdc3 tog.)

Foundation chain: Measure the width of your shawl or scarf or blanket. Then make chains to cover that length. The number of chains should be an even number or multiple of 2.

Row 1: 1sc into the 2nd chain from the hook. Then make 1sc to each chain to the end.

 Row1 with single crochets

Row 2: Make 4 chains. Now we have to do the stitch hdc3 tog.

Yarn over insert the hook to the next sc (not to the sc at the base of 4 chains.) and pull up the yarn, now there are 3 loops on the hook, again yarn over and insert the hook to the next sc and pull up the yarn, now there are 5 loops on the hook, again yarn over and insert the hook to the next sc and pull up the yarn, now there are 7 loops on the hook, Then pull through the yarn and release 6 loops and finally 2 loops. Now the 1st hdc3 tog stitch is done.  Then make 1 chain.

Then do the 2nd stitch of hdc3 tog.
